Nationals v Cardinals (April 11)

The Nationals took on the Cardinals for game two of the series tonight. Starting pitcher, Gio Gonzalez, looked sharp for Washington. Yadier Molina started the scoring for St. Louis in the top of the first with a sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the third, Daniel Murphy drove in pitcher Gio Gonzalez and Adam Eaton while sending Harper to third. “PaPa Murph” has recorded a hit in all eight games to start the season. During the top of the 4th Randal Grichuk hit a long ball to tie up the score at two.  In the bottom half of the frame Jayson Werth took Lance Lynn deep into the visiting bullpen. Tonight’s Twitter poll question was about the best Nationals’ moment which was dominated by Werth’s iconic walk off home run in 2012…against the Cardinals…off of Lance Lynn…into the same bullpen! It was a crazy night to see him do it again and while Bob and F.P. were talking about that classic Nationals moment. Weiters followed up later in the inning with a homer of his own. The phrase “See…You…Tater” was being thrown around in the broadcast, so we decided to Instagram message F.P., “If Bob calls a ‘See…You…TATER’ shot, we will get a NatsTown Chronicle t shirt with the phrase up to the booth for you guys!” The message was received and the guys started to talk about it. Next pitch, Murphy goes “Fwahhh” and sent that baseball over the wall in right and Bob calls it out just as we challenged “See..You..Tater!”. Looks like we have to get the guys their shirt now! That shot by Murphy made it 6-2 Nats. Zimmerman smacked an rbi single and Murphy later doubled in a run that got D.C. up to eight runs on the night, and propelled them to a win.’

The offense earned the fans the “NATS50” Papa John’s discount code scoring seven runs or more in a win. Gio looked sharp picking up his first win in his second start of the season. Bryce Harper went 1 for 2 with three walks. The 2015 N.L. MVP continues to take pitches when there is not much to work with. The boys officially won the three game series tonight but look to sweep the birds tomorrow at 4:05pm ET in the nation’s capital.
