The Nationals put up a good series and won their first series in a while. The Nationals pounded the Mariners in the first game, winning 10-1, with Rendon homering twice. In the second game the Nationals won 5-1. However, Seattle avoided a sweep winning the finale 4-2. The bullpen struggles continued as Jacob Turner gave up two runs after Gio Gonzalez came out of the game.
Washington won another series defeating the Padres two games to one. In game one, there was a home run parade led by Bryce Harper (15), Trea Turner (5) and Michael A. Taylor (3) also joined in in the 5-1 win with Scherzer taking control from the hill. Stephen Strasburg was electric in game two not allowing a run. Koda Glover got his 4th save of the season to secure the Nationals team shut out. In game three the Padres had the lead from start to finish. Joe Ross gave up two runs in the first and San Diego did not let lead go away.
Bryce Harper is playing as well as Mike Trout and Aaron Judge right now. They had the same amount of homers through the end of the series (15) and were close in runs scored, runs batted in and batting averages. It is going to be fun to watch the battle of Mike Trout and Aaron Judge in the A.L. MVP race; and see if anyone can give Bryce Harper a run for his money on the N.L. side of things. Tell us your thoughts on the MVP races!
